Claire Waddon

Claire Waddon has over 24 years’ experience of working directly within the education and social care sector at both operational and strategic levels, locally, regionally and nationally with a previous post being that of National Director of Training and Development for an organisation with 114 provisions.

As the CEO of Care Focus (South West) CIC, Claire worked intensively with public, private and community care and health services across the South West to support the design and delivery of quality services.

Jan Newton

Jan Newton retired from Social Care in April 2012, having worked at 4th tier Management with a spell of acting up to 3rd tier for 9 months for Somerset County Council.

With over 30 years’ experience, Jan’s main body of work has been managing teams of social workers and team managers to achieve targets driven by policy and budgetary requirements.  She has worked extensively in Children’s Services, Learning Disability Services and Adult Services as well as working in Education in the Prison Service.

Alison Kyle

Alison Kyle (MSc. BSc. Cert Ed.) is a dietitian who has worked for many years both in the NHS and as a freelance dietitian.  She qualified as a dietitian from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 1986 and progressed to study for a Masters degree in Nutrition at the Rowett Research Institute/ Aberdeen University and to gain a postgraduate teaching qualification from the University of Plymouth.

She has published different research papers and has been involved in teaching and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition training to ensure high levels of competency in new dietitians and nutritionists.

She has worked extensively in public health and health promotion and was responsible for setting up and establishing a new dietetic department to work with all Somerset General Practitioners that includes, together with general dietetic advice, home enteral tube feeding, specialist obesity management, community paediatric dietetics and mental health services. She now works part time as a Dietetic Manager and Professional Lead within the acute hospital sector (Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) and as a freelance dietitian.  This include maintaining a professional private dietetic practice with many years’ experience in dealing with the many aspects of disordered eating patterns.

Alison also has a particular interest in the impact nutrition has in later life and how maintaining a good nutritional intake can affect quality of life.  She is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council and British Dietetic Association and has spoken on many different aspects of nutrition at conferences both locally and nationally.
